Training for Every Stage of Flight
-
To ensure students are properly prepared for training, several materials are required prior to beginning lessons. These items are used regularly during both ground and flight instruction and are considered essential throughout training.
Students are strongly advised to have access to an iPad or iPhone capable of running ForeFlight. ForeFlight will be used extensively throughout training for flight planning, navigation, weather briefings, charts, airport information, and digital training materials. A ForeFlight subscription is highly encouraged to have downloaded before beginning training.
Students are also encouraged to obtain:
1st, 2nd, or 3rd class medical (based on the certificate the student wishes to obtain
A plotter
An E6B flight computer (electronic or manual)
A quality aviation headset
Writing materials
A Knee Board for notes during flight
****Renters Insurance is required upon initial solo flight and/or anytime a student would like to rent the aircraft without a qualified instructor
All digital textbooks and training materials will be provided electronically whenever applicable. If you are unsure about renter’s insurance, ask your CFI directly.

Flight training requires consistency, preparation, and active participation outside of scheduled lessons. Students who maintain a regular training schedule and review lesson material between flights typically experience better retention, stronger proficiency, and more efficient overall progress.
For best results, students are encouraged to:
Fly at least two to three times per week when possible
Study consistently between lessons
Arrive prepared for scheduled training
Review previous lesson material before each flight
Consistency remains one of the most important factors in successful flight training and long-term proficiency.
-
Safety is our top priority.
Students are expected to:
Follow the instructor’s guidance
Use proper checklist procedures
Maintain professionalism
Communicate honestly about limitations and concerns
Prioritize safe decision-making at all times

At Altivol Aviation Group, we believe earning a certificate is only the beginning. Our goal is to develop skilled, confident aviators who truly understand their aircraft and are prepared for the realities of flying beyond the checkride. Rather than a one size fits all approach, we emphasize structured training, consistency, real world decision making, and strong stick and rudder skills from the very beginning.
Students train with purpose, building each lesson on the last while developing the judgment, discipline, and confidence that define exceptional pilots. With opportunities to progress beyond primary training into tailwheel, aerobatics, upset recovery, and advanced flight skills, Altivol offers something different from the traditional flight school experience. We don't just teach you how to pass a checkride. We train you to become the pilot you want to be.
